Do you ever have weeks where you are out shopping and think, “Ya know, I want to buy something today and I really deserve it.”? Well that’s the thought that goes through my mind everyday I had a few weeks ago when I was shopping at Elyse Walker in the Pacific Palisades. I’d had a busy week at work, had just finished a juice cleanse and a workout when I found these Givenchy black & offwhite stunners (my friend also got her first pair of Loubs when we were there…’twas a good day). I am usually a black-on-black type of gal, occasionally throwing in the most obnoxious neon I can find but the 6-inch addition to my shoe closet has inspired many of black-and-white ensembles in the past month plus added a little pep in my step.

Black and white looks are fun because everything matches and it’s easy to make a statement. The key to pulling it off in a big way is making sure that the proportions are fairly equal (ie. a LBD with a white shoe is not a look unless you also throw in a white handbag and some other major accessories that are white). Also, if you are mixing creams with a bright white, make sure there is a little separation between the two pieces so the contrast isn’t too noticeable. With such a simple color palette, you can have fun with beauty products. I hardly ever wear a bright lip but for some reason, with this colorless look, a pop of color just felt right…I  used MAC’s Candy Yum-Yum for that little extra thang.
